In the middle of the years 60 the multinational ITT built a polar station in the Antarctica, the "Byrd Station", with a pair of towers of to 35 meters of height. This polar station, just like other many in the South pole, was abandoned by the Americans in the decade of the 80 and today remains buried to various meters under the ice.
